Reading between the words, I guess this means you showed you true Apple fanbou colors :). No, the new #irs look fantastic, I’d be hard pressed to justify buying any other computer, lack of webOS notwithstanding ;).
Did you get the 11″ or the 13″.

I got a 13″ on order, although I’m not contemplating swapping that for the 11″. Screen size vs. weight, everything else is the same (specced out) and $50 difference. Photo processing is better on a bigger screen, but an 11″ would be a nice delta.
The last time I bought a laptop is 2004. Crazy!

Congrats! They look like awesome machines — you sure timed it right with the upgrade. So what were the specs on what you finally ordered? Did you get lots of BTO options, or stay pretty much stock?

Got the top-of-the-line, 256GB & 1.8GHz. Figured might as well go nuts! Got a whopping $60 off through Apple EPP discount.

We faced the same decision to make last year– with the 13 inch, you get 2 more hours of battery and an SD card slot (but also increased size). Serena ended up with an 11 inch, which she loves, but Lance got the 13″. Either way, you end up with the smallest laptop that money can buy.

I usually have an SD card reader with me, but a nice bonus. Mostly, it’s the extra screen vs. the lighter weight. I figure the TouchPad is perfect for airline surfing, so that’s not a bother. And extra battery life is nice, as it should have enough juice to recharge the Pre 3-4 times/ day. 🙂

Mostly our Air never leaves the house, but even just surfing on the couch or in bed, the smaller size is nice. Sometimes, we even huddle around the screen watching netflix in bed. Bigger would be better I suppose, but we don’t seem to miss the larger screen size. Then again, it’s the largest computer monitor in the house (unless you count our 56″ HDTV).

OK, I downsized to a specced out 11.6″ air. 1.8GHz i7, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM. Maybe I’ll finally own a laptop that doesn’t destroy the hard drive!

And here it is! So quiet & light, feels plenty fast. Screen doesn’t seem cramped. Looking forward to putting it through its paces tonight.

Awesome, did you have it delivered at work? I’ve been spending a lot of time on the predecessor to that machine (working on my Blurb book). Sad that ours is 1) terribly obsolete after 8 months and 2) still the fastest computer in my house (with the highest resolution display). But rest assured, it holds up well!

I ran home to pick it up, didn’t want to leave it on the porch for 8 hours. Turns out, someone was there painting the house, so it would’ve turned out OK.
