Zite for iPad

May 4th, 2011, 9:27pm by Mike

Over the past week, while traveling, I’ve spent a lot of time reading Zite, which is a “personalized magazine” for iPad. What it really is: a nicely laid-out newsreader that goes out on the web and fetches articles — from newspapers, magazines, and websites — on themes that you’re interested in. You can specify the themes, or you can let it just start grabbing stuff, and as you’re reading, you can “like” things, and it’ll fetch similar articles over time.

The thing about it is that it’s perfect for sitting down for 10 minutes — there’s always something interesting, and unlike reading a normal RSS reader, it’s a little unpredictable what you’ll get back.

Sounds neat. Pretty clearly, we all need to get iPads. I don’t see the point of having a tablet that didn’t have a ton of apps. I have enough devices with web browsers.

yeah, especially devices with 10″ screens!

When I saw the “Z” heading up the article, I thought you were going to write about the Zagg iPad case with keyboard (www.zagg.com). Do you use the iPad for note taking?

Not for note taking (I can’t type fast enough on it), but I do use it for sketching slides. I have a stylus for that, works fairly well.

I do have a wireless keyboard, but it’s a little too cumbersome to carry around.
