Testing Blogsy
April 24th, 2011, 9:06am by MikeI haven’t blogged in a while, for a couple of reasons — mostly because I haven’t had time, but also because I don’t use a Mac every day anymore, and as such, no longer have full-time access to MarsEdit, which was my blogging application.
So I just downloaded Blogsy, a blogging app for the iPad, and figured I’d give it a spin. It’s much better than the other iPad apps that I’ve tried, but still not perfect. In fact, I’m having a weird bug with adding links to text, but the developer has been very responsive and we’re trying to track it down.
One weird thing is that you can’t (yet) upload pictures from the iPad’s photo library direct to your blog, but there’s good Flickr integration, so I can do that — maybe I’ll even start putting some pictures up on Flickr. Here’s are two relatively recent pictures of Adam:
Congratulations to Romyar and Mirea!
April 18th, 2011, 5:56pm by KelvinDidn’t get a chance to fire up a live video stream of the wedding ceremony like I’d planned, but Romyar did get married this weekend to a real life lass named Mirea! Wedding was held at a nice resort in Tucson, where we spent 3 days by the pool in 90 deg weather. Anyway, Lucas did a credible job as the leader of the ringbearers :). He cleaned up pretty nice! Here’s a phonecam gallery…
Atlas V rocket launch!

The Icebox Book!
April 14th, 2011, 12:56am by JakeOrder the 12″ hardcover and the 7″ softcover from Blurb, and please use one of these coupons.
Early last summer, new Icebox member Chris Menz suggested that we cubes publish a “book for good” with our photographs. Everyone was excited. Just as the project began, we suffered a major setback as our good friend & fellow photographer Dave Hohler passed away. Instantly, we collectively decided to dedicate the book to Dave, use one of his photos for the cover and donate all proceeds to cancer charities.
We’d each contribute 3 photos that had survived the rigors of The Icebox. Then an editor would choose about 70 photos, carefully choosing images– 1 or 2 from each contributor– that would pair well with it’s match on the opposite page. Through many fits & bursts, it all came together, with a dozen members making substantial contributions– creating the back cover, designing the layout, writing essays, editing, proof reading and coordinating. A true collaborative effort. And now, it’s ready for order.
Back Cover
The large, 12″ x 12″ hardcover, a true “coffee table” book if I’ve ever seen one, is $108.49. The small, 7″ softcover is $29.49. As originally envisioned, each purchase will include a $10 (small) or $20 (large) donation to the American Cancer Society through Dave Hohler’s Relay for Life team, for which I am raising funds. In addition, for each purchase made before April 29, I will personally contribute an additional $5. Proceeds from purchases made after April 30 will be directed to another cancer charity. All sales are made through Blurb, and I strongly encourage you to use one of the coupons listed there. Right now, you can use BLURBMOM or BLURBMOM2 to save 15% on orders of 2+ books in the US or Europe, respectively. Or use THANKYOU or THANKYOU2 to save 10% on orders of a single book in the US or Europe. Check back, there are always new coupons.
So buy a book. They look phenomenal, and go towards a great cause. Of course, I need to thank the 60+ photographers that have contributed. Thank you! We are a global bunch, as this map of where we live (or where we’re from) clearly demonstrates.
OK, enough of that. How about a look at some more of the photos included in the book? Enjoy.
