Buzz Lightyear’s new friend
July 9th, 2010, 2:13am by KelvinWe took Lucas to see Toy Story 3 a few weeks ago (his first real trip to the movies) and he’s been obsessed ever since. And he should be– the Toy Story movies are really great (and the 3rd one was awesome, even for adults).
Two weekends ago, when Jake was here, Lucas happened to see a Buzz Lightyear action figure at Target and started pestering us to buy it. Jake made a deal that if Lucas behaved himself for a week, we’d buy it for him. Well, I don’t know if he was good per se, but he was probably better than normal, so we held up our end of the bargain. Check out this thing– such a cool toy!

(photo taken with a Pre and then processed using Photo Effects with a brightness boost and then a contrast boost, in that order).

I didn’t make a deal so much as negotiate a contract. Looks pretty happy to have his new gadget. Nice to know that Lucas will still play with his other toys, too!

We just took Brandon over the weekend – his first movie. He seemed to enjoy it – at least he saw through the entirety. He described the movie as being about toys and a trash dump with a red hot fire…
I don’t see the picture posted, btw…is it just me?

We were worried that Lucas would freak out when it got dark (he did at a dinosaur movie at the National Museum of Natural History), but once Toy Story started, he was fine. Glad Brandon liked it too. Buzz still doesn’t compare to Mickey, huh? For us, it looks like the Thomas years are over :).
The photo is just a jpg– it should show up fine on your PC, but might be too big for Opera Mini? I don’t really know. I’ll check on IE, but it definitely works in Chrome.

Derrick, you’re right, IE can’t open the jpg. IE seems to have trouble with a lot of the pics I’ve uploaded through Poster (my Pre’s blogging app). Weird thing is that the photo itself can’t be viewed in IE (only see the strange X), even when downloaded and opened from the local file in IE. Must have something to do with the way Poster is resizing the jpg. For instance, this post, where I uploaded the photo from Poster at the original size, displays fine, but many of the others do not.

Weird that it doesn’t work in IE. Works on all my browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). I know that IE has some weirdness overall, but I would think a regular jpeg should be fine.

Yeah, it must be a non-standard jpg. Poster doesn’t resize it itself, it sends the jpg to an unnamed online service that resizes it and returns the smaller jpg. That file can’t be rendered by IE for some reason. I editted the post from Poster to serve up the full res jpg, and now it shows up in IE.
