Santa Clarita Half Marathon/ Redux

The leader after 26 miles
After a 4-month hiatus and 2 months back on the road, I returned to Valencia for my 4th race there and 2nd half marathon this morning. I was not expecting much, and would’ve been happy to finish under 2:10, and was realistically expecting a 2:02-2:03 finish. Surprised myself to finish in a pretty quick 1:57:13, practically flying considering I’ve been running slower than 10/mile in training. Negative splits, too; probably a minute faster on the return journey. Perfect weather, although I missed my cheering section. Here are some more photos from race day in Valencia. Read all about my first Santa Clarita Marathon, listen to me describe how there’s no such thing as an easy marathon and read a retrospective onten years running for past highlights.

Nice run! Those pictures make me nostalgic…what I would give to visit a strip mall, tract home, or chain restaurant…ah Valencia!
