Baby’s Clock Radio

Super-psyched to have gone to Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a clock radio for the baby’s room. Check out these specs:
-
iPod dock (for an old 1 GB nano, see below)
-
additional aux input jack, for the Airport Express (thanks, Uncle Jake!) — so we can play anything from our iTunes library through it
-
nature noises (we’ve heard from some friends about white noise machines helping some babies sleep. Wouldn’t have paid extra for it, but I guess it’s nice to have)
-
… and of course, the usual clock/alarm features.
Another nice thing is that it’s an LCD display, and you can turn the backlight off, so there’s no light from it.
The iPod should be fun. This is going to be “the baby’s iPod,” so we can load it up with whatever music we think is baby-appropriate (suggestions?). There are now iPod docks in the baby’s room, the bouncy chair, and the car — so the music can follow the baby around. Seems kinda fun.

No specific music recommendations, but you will want to experiment to see what he/she responds to. For some reason, we discovered early on that Lucas liked “Cool” by Gwen Stefani, and whenever he was being fussy, it would soothe him if we played it. For a while, I had one-touch access to it in the car (iPod), on my Q, and from our MediaCenter 🙂
Lucas still doesn’t have his own clock radio, though!

Yes, I have vivid memories of driving around with Lucas & Co. listening to cool a few dozen times.

Yeah, that was when he had his first ear infection. “Cool” even cured that!

You forgot to mention that the silver front plate can be replaced with different colored plates, so that it can match the nursery or baby’s mood. 🙂 It can do everything!

We just bought a white noise maker for Tiffany that I think is the same brand – and we also got it from Bed, Bath and Beyond (no clock radio or ipod dock for ours though). It works miracles! Tiffany is an extremely sensitive sleeper so every little sound in our tiny appartment would wake her up. With the whitenoise maker, she sleeps so much better. Don’t know if it has the same ‘nature sounds’ as ours, but the ‘waterfall’ is the one that is essentially whitenoise and works the best. Hopefully your little one will be a better sleeper than ours and not need it though.
