Central Park in the Fall

Sheep Meadow, Central Park

I’m still amazed by the fall colors here on the East Coast. Who knew what I’d been missing all these years. This is a shot of Sheep Meadow – a bunch of professional looking photographers had their tripods up to capture this scene so I thought I’d pop in behind them with my point-and-shoot. Not bad, you think?

Hey, why is the double entry to this post not getting deleted from the main page? I deleted it from the editing list…and you can’t post a comment to it.

The deleted post disappears after the Board gets rebuilt. It’s gone now. Great picture by the way! The color of the sky looks kinda fake. Gonna be really pretty in the winter too!

  3. Kelvin Says:

BTW, when I say “fake,” I mean it looks like the Simpsons sky. Don’t you guys agree?

  4. Jake Says:

It looks like an impressionist painting almost, a very cool effect. And the clouds & sky are very Simpsonesque. I wonder if the PowerShot has a “foliage” mode that it automatically used when detecting the colors?

  5. Derrick Says:

Ah…you’ve found me out. I admit that I did have it on “foliage” setting when I took that shot. Seemed appropriate given that I was trying to snap pictures of the fall foliage. What exactly does that setting do?

  6. Jake Says:

@dsung Well, I think the foliage setting would probably up the saturation, and it looks like there might be a contrast enhancement and unsharpening. Also, there’s apparently some changes in white balance, which could explain a bit about the funky sky
